Marc Gerstenkorn defends DJKM overall lead
Even after the fourth of five races Marc Gerstenkorn is still in the title race for the German Junior Kart Championship. The next races took place in Kerpen, which the Swiss finished second and third. Before the showdown in Italy, he has an advantage of one point as the overall leader.

Even before the race weekend in Kerpen, it was clear that the battle for the championship would drag on until the finale. The Erftlandring provided the best backdrop for a thrilling battle. In addition, there was bright sunshine and numerous spectators on race Sunday.

Even though Marc went to the start highly motivated, the start was still a bit restrained. With fifth place in qualifying and also after the heats, he missed out on important points and even lost the overall lead for a short time. But on Sunday he was back in full attack and underlined his ambitions.

Starting from the third row of the grid, he fought his way up to third place in the first final and then went one better. As the runner-up, he drove in the slipstream of the leader and scored some very important points. After the weekend, he continues to lead the field. However, the gap to the pursuer is only one point.

“Phew, this is going to be a really exciting finale. I’ve been leading the standings for so long now that I don’t want to let the title slip out of my hands in the home stretch. We proved today that we’ve got what it takes. At the finale in Franciacorta (Italy) it’s now important to deliver a consistent performance. Many thanks to my team for the great support,” concluded the Lander by choice.

In five weeks, the TB Racing Team protégé will then travel to the DJKM finals, where he hopes to secure the biggest success of his career to date.
