DKM leading kilometers for Marc Gerstenkorn
Kick-off in Mülsen, Saxony
After a few races in Italy, Marc Gerstenkorn was now waiting for the start of the German Kart Championship in Mülsen. The Swiss driver started in the X30 seniors and showed that he is one of the favorites for the top ranks, even if the final did not end as desired.
With almost 50 riders, strong competition awaited the X30 seniors in Mülsen – one of them was Marc Gerstenkorn. In eighth place after qualifying, he had a good starting position and finished both heats in the same place.
He showed a really strong race on a dry track on Sunday. Marc drove to the front in the Super Heat and finished the race in a great third place. “That was a hot race and at the same time a good impression of what to expect in the final. We are competitive and want to make the most of it,” said the protégé of Kartshop Ampfing during the lunch break.
He got off to a strong start in the final and held his own in the leading pack. However, as the race progressed, he got caught up in the tough battles for position and lost ground. In the end, he was only ranked 18th and was visibly disappointed: “After the good start to the day, I naturally wanted to finish the final successfully. Unfortunately, it didn’t work out that way. However, it is very positive that our material works great and that we are at the front as a team.”
Marc is now looking ahead to the next round of the German Kart Championship with a special focus. Then he will be a guest at his team’s home track in Ampfing. The circuit is also his home track for the driver from Landshut.
