Marc Gerstenkorn confirms upward trend in Kerpen

Youngest DSKC driver once again among the frontrunners

Marc Gerstenkorn enjoyed another strong weekend at the fourth round of the DMSB Shifter Kart Cup (DSKC) season in Kerpen. At the historic Erftlandring, the young driver from Landshut showed that he has firmly established himself among the frontrunners in his first season in shifter karts. In the end, he narrowly missed out on a podium finish, coming in sixth, but the podium was within reach.

Marc got off to a promising start on Saturday. With fifth place in qualifying, he secured an ideal starting position for the heats. In the first heat, he drove the fastest lap of the race, but was only classified ninth after receiving a spoiler penalty. Things went much better in the second heat: the youngster made an impressive comeback with fourth place and was in an excellent third position in the interim standings.

The positive trend continued on Sunday. Marc delivered a commanding performance in the Super Heat and crossed the finish line in third place, another highlight of his first DSKC season. With this starting position, he once again attacked at the front in the grand final. In a thrilling race, he stayed with the leading group for a long time and crossed the finish line in third place. However, a subsequent spoiler penalty threw him back to sixth place.

“Of course, it’s a shame that we lost the podium in the end. But overall, I’m very satisfied. We are consistently at the front and have shown again in Kerpen that we belong at the top. I want to build on that now,” Marc summed up after the weekend.

The Kartshop Ampfing driver is now seventh in the championship standings. At the season finale in Wackersdorf (September 19-21), the 14-year-old wants to confirm his strong form and finish the year in the top five.
