Double podium for Marc Gerstenkorn in Mülsen

The winter break has come to an end for Marc Gerstenkorn. The driver by choice from Landshut competed in the first round of the German Junior Kart Championship (DJKM) at the Arena E in Mülsen this weekend and directly finished on the podium in both final races.
Marc Gerstenkorn has already been back on the racetracks in Germany and Italy since January. After some promising test races, the first encounter in the German championship now took place in Mülsen, Saxony. In the Juniors, the Swiss-born rider delivered exciting duels with the competition – the 1,315-meter track is known for its many slipstream battles.
With top times in the free practice sessions, he already put himself among the favorites on Friday and held on to this position for the rest of the race. Third place on the grid after qualifying was a good basis, which he defended throughout the heats. The mood on Saturday evening was correspondingly positive: “As third, I have every chance of a good result and lots of championship points in the final races.”
And so it came to pass: with conditions remaining dry, Marc collected lead kilometers in both finals and fought hard for victory. In the end, he completed the heats in third and second place. Added to this was the fastest race lap in the second final. “Super, in the afternoon race I led the race for a long time. In the end it wasn’t quite enough, here in Mülsen the slipstream has a big influence. Nevertheless, I am very satisfied. In the championship I am currently in second place,” summarized the youngster from the TB Racing Team.
The next race of the DJKM will take place at the end of May from 26-28 in Genk, Belgium.
