Marc Gerstenkorn Finishes on the Podium at the DKM Season Opener in Mülsen
Second Place in the KZ2 Cup Final at the DKM Season Opener
Marc Gerstenkorn kicked off the 2026 German Karting Championship season with a strong performance. At the season opener at Arena E Mülsen, the Mach1 Motorsport driver held his own in the weekend’s largest field of 48 drivers and secured an outstanding second-place finish in the KZ2 Cup final. Following a promising performance just one week earlier at the ADAC Kart Masters, the 15-year-old seamlessly built on his form.
Marc already demonstrated his ambitions in qualifying, placing fifth and positioning himself right in the leading group. In the subsequent heats, he impressively confirmed his strong pace. With third, third, and second-place finishes, he consistently scored points and established himself early on as one of the fastest drivers in the field. After the heats, he was ranked third overall—an ideal starting position for the final day.
On Sunday, Marc delivered another highlight. In the Super Heat, he took control and gave the competition no chance. With a commanding victory, he underscored his capabilities and secured third place on the grid for the final. In the decisive race, Marc stayed in the leading group from the start and remained error-free over the entire distance. At times, he closed in on the leader, but was unable to launch the final attack. But even as the runner-up, the Swiss driver living in Landshut had every reason to be very satisfied.
“After the weekend at the ADAC Kart Masters, we knew we were heading in the right direction. To confirm that right away with a podium finish in the DKM is, of course, a great feeling. The team did a perfect job, and I felt very comfortable in the kart all weekend,” Marc summed up.
With this result, he is among the favorites this season and has laid a strong foundation for the rest of the season. The next challenge awaits at the end of May with the next event in Cheb. The track is on the DKM race calendar for the first time and is uncharted territory for many drivers.
